Amy Schumer spends an inordinate amount of time engaging with trolls. If she’s in fact supremely secure they seem to effect her more than your average suicidal goth teen. What’s lost in the whole shuffle is the fact that everyone with a social media account gets a ton of hateful comments with the volume fluctuating relative to how many followers they have, although being opinionated or not being a 9 can lead you to skew higher. Schumer is kind of chubby and advertises this as part of her public persona, yet is still irritated when people refer to her as such. Ever have a gay friend who hates the word Gay?
“I meant to write ‘good morning trolls!’ I hope you find some joy in your lives today in a human interaction and not just in writing unkind things to a stranger you’ve never met who triggers something in you that makes you feel powerless and alone.”
That’s being presumptuous and constitutes a delusion of grandeur. While most people who write mean things online are joyless losers, some are hardworking extremely satisfied people who are bored at work. It’s unclear who would really find Schumer threatening, although many haters are probably jealous of her popularity. It’s a parasite host relationship. Her muffin top gets a little toasty if nobody’s talking about her.
