You ever noticed how people who feel no remorse for doing shitty things tend to go way overboard in apologies? Like abusive boyfriends breaking down in tears with flowers in their hands and poetry in their hearts to mend a few cuts and bruises. Shia LaBeouf took to the skies above LA to skywrite an apology to Daniel Clowes for plagiarizing his story. Shia paid for a skywriter to spew out “I am Sorry Daniel Clowes”. Never mind that Clowes lives in the Bay Area and couldn’t possibly have seen it, I’m sure he’s mighty moved by the magnificent gesture of apology for the literary raping. LeBeouf lifted the plot to his short film HowardCantour.com entirely from comic book artist Clowes’ story Justin M. Damiano. I guess no one told the ferret-faced star of the shitty Transformer films that you have to credit the people that actually do the creating. He groveled like a bitch with some half-hearted explanations, but when Clowes seemed unwilling to accept his apology, LeBeouf did the skywriting thing then posted the picture to his Twitter account along with some crappy cryptic verse:
CLOUD:
– vapor floating in the atmosphere
– remote servers used to SHARE DATA
– to make LESS CLEAR or TRANSPARENT
I have no clue what the fuck that means but maybe we can ask Noah Webster when he calls out Shia for stealing his shit too. I hope Daniel Clowes skywrites back a subpoena in the sky for the lawsuit he needs to bring against this shit stain on the undercrackers of the entertainment business.
