Before, shingles were only for the elderly. But now, according to MTV Catfish’s host Nev Schulman, they’re also for men accused of sexual misconduct. Nev claims that he was under so much stress that the shingle fairy paid him a visit. I feel like his moment in the Me Too spotlight could have been avoided if he didn’t dress like a teenage fantasy. The disheveled, accidental bed-head hair on purpose look stops working once you graduate high school. It becomes an instant red flag when the wearer of the do is over thirty. Which is why MTV had to take the underage hippo with a septum piercing’s accusations seriously. Who really knows what a guy like Nev may be into.
“Catfish” host Nev Schulman was under so much stress during his sexual misconduct investigation that he developed an illness.
“I was so stressed and I was so out of control and desperately trying to get it into my control that I actually got shingles,” Schulman, 33, revealed on Josh Peck’s podcast, “Curious with Josh Peck.”
“Most people get it around their chest or ribs,” Schulman added. “I got it on my head.”
Instead of pointing fingers at Nev for the blatant creepiness that would make him a prime sexual predator suspect, we should focus on things that matter, like canceling Catfish, sexual misconduct or not. The show inspires psychopaths. Imagine if Catfish had been around during the AOL dial-up chatroom era. A good portion of every climatic Catfish reveal would have resulted in Nev and his underaged guest meeting middle-aged men from flyover states pretending to be hip teens online.
