Elevated Hot Topics cashier Lorde publicly apologized for comments she made comparing Taylor Swift’s fame to an autoimmune disease. A moment of clarity for those suspecting Swift was an autoimmune disease all along. During an interview with The Guardian Lorde stated:
It’s like having a friend with very specific allergies. There are certain places you can’t go together. Certain things you can’t do. There are these different sets of considerations within the friendship. It’s like having a friend with an autoimmune disease.
Both sufferers of autoimmune diseases and heroic Internet shamers who had to Google “autoimmune disease” alike interpreted this as a marginalization of self-detonating bodies everywhere. If it’s any consolation, many offended people afflicted by autoimmune diseases probably won’t be around to endure this affront for too long.
Lorde purred like a good pussy via Twitter in response to the criticism:
didn’t mention taylor, but regardless, i fucked up & that was really insensitive. i’m sorry
Celebrities who refrain from doling out apologies amid the pressures of Buzzfeed articles like “Twitter Slams Lorde For Insensitive Comments”, which translates to “Lorde Rapes Jesus and Puppies”, are doing God’s work. Social Justice fascists can’t bully people for being fat or ugly. But our ingrained need to fuck over others to make ourselves feel a little less like the pieces of dirt we are graces all humans equally. Food, water, shelter, cyberbullying.
Lorde’s comments are about as offensive as Goodnight Moon. But she must die for them. Ashley Graham is a gorgeous brave blimp, or else. Lorde deserves to be the caboose in The Human Centipede. We’re experiencing The Salem Witch Trails with emojis 🙁
