So, relatively good news regarding Patrick Swayze and his fight with pancreatic cancer. While it has been confirmed that he is sick and receiving treatment at Stanford University Hospital as the National Enquirer said (more here), his prognosis may not be as dire as once thought. According to People magazine, his doctor said yesterday:
"Patrick has a very limited amount of disease and he appears to be responding well to treatment thus far. All of the reports stating the time frame of his prognosis and his physical side effects are absolutely untrue. We are considerably more optimistic."
And his rep said:
"Patrick is continuing his normal schedule during this time, which includes working on upcoming projects. The outpouring of support and concern he has already received from the public is deeply appreciated by Patrick and his family."
I liked Patrick Swayze movies because his character was always THE BEST. He wasn’t just a bar bouncer, he was THE BEST. How his character ended up NUMBER 1 needed no explanation, so therefore the filmmakers didn’t even pretend to explain it. Taking the time to spell out the ranking procedure would just insult us both, so they wisely just moved ahead. And this is only somewhat related, but I was in the airport the other day, and fuck you to whoever is in charge of those Katie Couric colon cancer testing ads. They look like this one, except 10 feet long. Is this the test? Is this what the colon sees? Are you inferring that I'm the colon? Hey fuck you buddy. Maybe I'm just old fashioned, but I don't think it's very nice to go around calling people cancerous colons.
