A rep for Heath Ledgers family said in a statement today that services for Ledger will remain private and no public memorial or viewing will be held, but did not comment on reports that Ledger will be laid to rest in his hometown of Perth, Australia. People.com says:
"At this time, we will not be releasing any information," the rep says. "There are no plans for a public service."
I don't think it's too much to ask that when I die people clamor for a public memorial service too. And also I'd like one of those statures built like the one of Jesus on Rio. Except instead of having my arms out, I'm holding a sword up high and the blade is on fire and there's a lion to one side slightly behind me and Jessica Alba is naked and she has huge implants now and she's wrapped around my leg and looking up at me in awe. But let's keep it tasteful please.
