Morgan Freeman on marijuana: “It’s the stupidest law possible”

In a new interview with Newsweek, Morgan Freeman is asked about all the things you’d expect him to be asked about (Batman, favorite movie, working with Tom Cruise on ‘Oblivion’) but also the fact that he’s a “big proponent of the legalization of marijuana.”

“Marijuana! Heavens, oh yeah. It’s just the stupidest law possible, given history. You don’t stop people from doing what they want to do, so forget about making it unlawful. You’re just making criminals out of people who aren’t engaged in criminal activity. And we’re spending zillions of dollars trying to fight a war we can’t win! We could make zillions, just legalize it and tax it like we do liquor. It’s stupid.”

Or here’s an even better idea; how about you don’t tax it and leave people the fuck alone. Why do people always say that, as if all the marijuana in the world belongs to our shitty and corrupt government, and if they allow us to have any, it’ll be on their terms. Fuck that. Those fuckers are lucky I don’t have my own Gamera. I would totally tell him to smash all their shit and then we’d all do whatever we want.
