The USA series Shooter is about an ex Marine who is coaxed out of retirement when he learns of a plot to kill the President. This is the fallacy of all shitty movies and TV shows. There’s not just one guy who’s good at shooting a rifle or bouncing at bars or driving a getaway car. There are literally thousands. So, it’s not necessary for someone to come to your dive ass apartment and convince you to return to action. In fact we have a nineteen year old kid without a drinking problem. We’ll just use him, but get back on your feet.
In response to the shootings in Dallas, USA has decided to push the premier of the show back one week. So, everything should be fine:
“In light of recent tragic events and out of respect for the victims, their families and our viewers, we have decided to postpone the premiere date for the upcoming USA Network series Shooter to July 26.”
Isn’t the news still showing graphic death footage of that black guy who was shot for having a bum taillight? How sensitive are we? It’s cool that when a group of civilians totaling ten or more or any plural number of cops get shot the networks think it’s a good idea to take a brief break from gun violence. Did they put a brief moratorium on sex scenes after Brock Turner raped that chick? Still failing to see the logic here. Is USA assuming people mimic what they see on TV, in that case take all violent programming off air for the greater good of society. Are they saying that we just need another week to heal? Well fuck you, what if I’m already healed or I need two weeks? Since when is one week the standard allotted time to recover from the deaths of five cops?
The victims and their families are probably going to have a longer grieving period than your average dude who watches TV. Especially since some of them are dead. Quit going through the motions and feigning responsibility. Nobody gives a shit about your stupid ass TV show and those that do aren’t conflating it with real life events. Put down your Call of Duty controllers and observe a moment of silence for victims of gun violence. Fuck you. The real victim in all of this is Ryan Phillippe, this show never stood a chance.
