Rocking the Vote Ain’t What It Never Was

To every institution, media outlet, and youth oriented marketing firm which ever used or borrowed the term, “Rocking the Vote”, it’s never ever actually worked before. As a brief FYI, twelve year old Katy Perry fans can’t vote. And their moms are voting however the hell they’ve voted last time. Another round of Teenage Dream isn’t getting people who couldn’t stand Hillary Clinton’s creepy maw to plunge a chad in her name. The same goes for Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez, Madonna, Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift, and every other vote rocker whose sum total contribution was seventeen more ballots cast in the San Fernando Valley. It worked. Hillary took the Valley.

Nobody under thirty really votes. Neither do the poor and disenfranchised who everybody goes out of their way to make sure can and do vote. They simply don’t give a shit. Which is their prerogative in this nation. Not so much in Australia where they ding you with a ticket for taking voting day off from voting. Old people love to vote. So do white guys. Latinos vote in large numbers in a concentrated number of states ensuring their ethnic voice is never a meaningful block. You’d think pop stars could really make a difference. They’d certainly like to think so. The feedback loops in their cocoons are incessantly positive. Nobody’s getting a Madonna blow job. Save maybe for Trump. Madonna didn’t get where she got by not recognizing opportunity.
