Saturday was World Toilet Day. If you missed it don’t be alarmed, any worthy cause would be scheduled for a weekday. World Toilet Day’s mission was to bring awareness about all the people around the world who don’t have access to a toilet. This encompasses some 2.4 billion people, most of whom live in New Mexico. The organizers aren’t particularly clear how they plan to eradicate the scourge of world poverty, but they usually come up with a kitschy social media campaign to draw attention to their cause. This year they persuaded a bunch of celebrities to take pictures of themselves on the toilet. Some of the more lazy douchebags just sat on one with their clothes on but Kourtney Kardashian appears to actually be taking a dump. She also looks like Skeletor but that’s irrelevant.
Clearly none of these lame asses are or will be involved in this cause, but it’s a convenient way to get away with taking an obnoxious photo for your Twitter profile. Getting self righteous idiots to take photos still holds little sway at the United Nations. We need you to forgive Rwanda’s debt. No seriously, check Jason Biggs’ Instagram. These organizations need a better approach. If the advocates you’re touting move onto something else the following day, so will everyone else. Not to mention, images which trigger a fight response are typically a poor way to gain sympathy for your cause. There’s still a domestic violence issue, maybe we can get Chelsea Handler to punch herself in the face while topless in I’m With Her panties? Fuck reading, looking at Instagram is going to change the world. Don’t hold your breath. Actually, do it for the drowning Cubans and take a selfie.
