The best and only good advice I got from any teacher in school was “You can be inspired by celebrities, but take their advice and politics with a grain of salt because many of them didn’t graduate high school.” But as of today I know that my teacher was an idiot, because it turns out that middle school is actually the cutoff for one of the most outspoken actresses around, Jennifer Lawrence. Lawrence has previously spoken out about being a middle school dropout, but I don’t know every little tiny thing about Lawrence’s life (although Hollywood is certainly challenging that by deepthroating us with Lawrence news) so it’s new to me. A 2013 article from Vanity Fair stated:
Lawrence was fourteen and on a family vacation to New York City when she was spotted on the street by a talent scout who arranged for her to audition for talent agents.
She added in the same 2013 interview:
I was in New York, just watching street dancing, and this model scout asked if he could take a picture. I had no idea that was creepy. So I was like, ‘Yeah, sure,’ and I gave him my mom’s phone number.
So basically – “Hi young teen girl, just wanted to let you know that you are very fuckable.” And now we know how she met Harvey Weinstein. But seriously Lawrence’s mom had to be majorly thirsty to put her young teen in the hands of someone who was eye banging her on the streets of New York City. Or maybe she knew that her daughter was fourteen years old and still in middle school so obviously had a severe learning disability, and getting raped by random photographers was her best shot in life. Now Lawrence is bringing the conversation back around to her education, letting us know on 60 Minutes while pimping Red Sparrow:
I dropped out of middle school. I don’t technically have a GED or a diploma. I am self-educated. I wanted to forge my own path. I found what I wanted to do and I didn’t want anything getting in the way of it. Even friends, for many years, were not as important to me as my career.
Oh my dear. You don’t have any friends that like you. Definitely be wary of anyone who says that they’re “self-educated.” This could literally mean anything, and in the case of Lawrence, it means that she got an education in cock from an early age and now regurgitates other people’s garbage without the critical thinking skills necessary to fully understand what she’s saying. But then again, as a fourteen-year-old middle schooler, maybe this was always going to be the case.
