Kate Upton rocked half-empty Ohio malls everywhere when she came out with explosive sexual harassment allegations against Guess co-founder and current creative director Paul Marciano. The mastermind behind the official brand for Toledo sex parties hosted by overweight 30-something dental receptionists denied any wrongdoing or abuse of power while directing Upton in her five Guess campaigns – which were integral to the early success of her career – stating:
This accusation is false. I have never touched Kate Upton. I have never been alone with Kate Upton. I have never acted inappropriately towards her.
But Upton isn’t letting a little slamming of her slamming slow her down, and while chatting with Robin Roberts on Good Morning America, opened up as to the reason she decided to share her #MeThree! moment in the first place: A girl’s workout party!
I was going back and forth about sharing this story because it’s always easier to leave things in the past. But actually what gave me the push to do it is I did a workout with a lot of new models for fashion week, since it was their first fashion week, and a lot of girls were sharing how excited they were about the different opportunities they got and the start of their career.
And I remembered being in that place whenever I got the meeting to go meet with Paul Marciano, and how different my view of the industry after that meeting was, and I wanted to prevent that from happening for these other girls who are just starting out.
Spoiler Kate: They’ve already been assaulted. But they haven’t gotten far enough in their careers to require the boost provided by reflecting on their inappropriate encounters with grabby photographers/ directors/fashion insiders/etc. Don’t you know anything Kate.
.@KateUpton to @RobinRoberts on her own #MeToo story: “You’re also having doubt in your mind of how I acted. Did I ask for this treatment? But you didn’t. This is their behavior.” https://t.co/8QlXZD2mQJ pic.twitter.com/RVM5h3A4Me
