Candice Bergen brags about being fat a lot in her new book because she doesn’t have much going on. She equates being overweight as a meaningful accomplishment akin to keeping the lawn trimmed or donating a large sum of money to cancer research:
“Let me just come right out and say it: I am fat… In the past 15 years… I have put on 30 pounds. I live to eat. None of this ‘eat to live’ stuff for me. I am a champion eater. No carb is safe, no fat either.”
Bergen claims many of her friends are anorexic and she sometimes eats a lot to rub it in their face. In her mind there’s no such thing as a healthy individual. Perhaps that’s why she prefers the company of those with eating disorders. There’s no grey area anymore. You’re either anorexic or fat as fuck. Vomiting after every meal or pounding cookies in bulk. Vegetables do not exist and anyone thinner than me is suspect. Being fat isn’t healthy. Being anorexic isn’t healthy. Being healthy is healthy. Keep eating, you’re helping cull the herd.
