The first rule of being an alpha male is the same first rule as Fight Club, DO NOT talk about how alpha you are. Definitely DO NOT write a blog post about it. But if you must be Billy Badass the rule breaker, at the very least, DO NOT attempt to take a literary dump on a more talented man than yourself less than a week after he dies.
Political commentator Bill Maher is being criticized for dismissing the work of Marvel comic book legend Stan Lee.
“The guy who created Spider-Man and the Hulk has died, and America is in mourning. Deep, deep mourning for a man who inspired millions to, I don’t know, watch a movie, I guess,” Maher wrote on his Real Time blog Saturday.
I’m not sure if there was another purpose of Bill Maher’s post other than seeking attention. The most Maher has ever inspired anyone to do is to soil themselves where they sit. The majority of his audience must wear Depends if auto-insurance pamphlets are automatically assumed to be more interesting than The Amazing Spiderman. The creations that Stan Lee left in this world have their own theme park rides. I have yet to overhear one human being mention how eager they are to experience Maher’s opinions at Universal Studios.
Stan Lee’s company, POW! Entertainment, responded to Maher’s blog about the late, great Marvel honcho … saying Bill’s opinion “that Stan merely inspired people to ‘watch a movie’ is in our opinion frankly disgusting.”
Stan’s team added, “Countless people can attest to how Stan inspired them to read, taught them that the world is not made up of absolutes, that heroes can have flaws and even villains can show humanity within their souls.”
