Pretty fly for a white guy. Canadian rapping sensation Jon James McMurray died during a wing-walking stunt gone awry. After reportedly months of practice, McMurray stepped out onto the wing of a mid-air Cessna while filming a music video, only to have the weight imbalance ā a completely unforeseen result of an adult human man standing on one wing of a tiny plane ā cause the aircraft to spiral, and McMurray to let go due to extreme forces and plummet to his death. Hereās the official statement from the thirty-three-year-oldās management team:
As Jon got further out onto the wing of the plane, it caused the small Cessna to go into a downward spiral that the pilot couldnāt correct. Jon held onto the wing until it was too late, and by the time he let go, he didnāt have time to pull his chute. He impacted and died instantly.
McMurray has a history of pulling off daredevil stunts, but this is one idea that just couldnāt get off the ground.
His passion for making music videos and performing stunts were combined, and Jon pushed music in a new direction that was uncharted territory.
And then pushed himself off the wing of a plane. Honestly for as much as I want to make a splash before dying, I donāt want to go out as clickbait. I would never do anything as Canadian rapper-y as walking on the wing of a plane for a music video, but even something as probable as actually getting āhit by a busā could be snicker-inducing. Itās why I donāt ski. Sonny Bono jokes. While Iād like to think the death of a burgeoning Canadian rapping talent would be sobering, I also think the footage would do well on Canadianās Funniest Home Videos. The silver lining is that McMurray was probably an āehā hole.
While documentation of the stunt hasnāt surfaced, itās probably not too dissimilar from the totally separate NSFEyeballs video below. Side note: WTF is allowed on YouTube?
