Men arguing with women is not what it used to be. Back when I was growing up it was only appropriate for a man and a woman to argue if they were married. It usually ended with the woman using make-up to conceal her shiner and a pending domestic violence charge. But now women and men don’t even have to know each other personally to get into a tiff. Fashion designer Stefano Gabbana took time from his very busy, and very gay day to insult Selena Gomez on Instagram. It’s pride month and the man is in rare form. Why not challenge just how protected from backlash you are by going after another protected class, women. He called Selena ugly in Italian because no one told him Google translate is built into Instagram now. He probably thought he could get away with it and failed miserably. Miley Cyrus stepped in to White Knight her way into Selena’s pants, insulting Stefano right back with a few words of her own.
On a photo The Catwalk Italia posted on Instagram of Gomez wearing various red dresses, Gabbana wrote, “È proprio bruta!!!” which translates to “She’s really ugly.”
While fans have quickly rushed to the star’s defense with some digitally insulting the designer on social media, one fellow star has also been vocal about her support—Miley Cyrus.
“Well what that d–k head said (if it’s true) is f–king false and total bull s–t,” Cyrus wrote, clearly not mincing her words. “She fine as f–k.”
It’s nice to stand up for another person but at least let Selena have the first crack at fighting her own battles. Stefano had already lost the fight as soon as he started it. Because Selena is something he most likely wishes he could be but can’t, a woman. He’s into men, playing dress up, and starting frivolous arguments on social media. Women should not acknowledge men with a clear case of snatch envy.
