“Creepy old men will be creepy old men” doesn’t work anymore the same way “boys will be boys” became invalid at the beginning of the Me Too movement. An accused Jeffrey Tambor is maintaining his innocence when it comes to any and all allegations of sexual misconduct. He admits to being an asshole, but never staring at anyone’s asshole while they sleep without consent. Even with him denying claims made against him, Amazon fired him from the Transparent show and he’s no longer officially eligible for an Emmy.
Tambor was fired from the show in February following accusations in November of harassing two trans women on the set, including costar Trace Lysette and his personal assistant Van Barnes. A third woman unrelated to the production later came forward, makeup artist Tamara Delbridge. Tambor discussed in more detail his wrongdoings, though he denied Barnes’ accusations that he acted inappropriately towards her or watched her sleep naked.
“I yelled at Jill — she told me recently she was afraid of me,” continued Tambor, who added that he made one of the show’s executive producers cry. He attributed it to fear of playing a trans woman as a cisgender man.
“I was scared, because I was a cisgender male playing Maura Pfefferman. And my whole thing was, ‘Am I doing it right? Am I doing it right? Am I doing it right?’ To the point that I worried myself to death.”
I need more facts before making a conclusion about Tambor because this may just be another case of a bored with life horny old man. Jeffrey is 73-years-old. The only ladies from his time period that had mustaches and beards were in a circus, not on the cover of Playboy and Cosmo. As far as allegedly watching a woman sleep naked, purely her fault. You’re parading a straight white male around as a transexual like some kind of social justice show pony. Jeffrey was probably just reconfirming that he still likes looking at women naked. Staring at yourself in the mirror with an erection and a dress on may lead to some slight slippage when it comes to sexual preference. Especially when cringeworthy derogatory terms like “cisgender” is hurtled at heterosexual men who only want to live their best life, and not worry about the woman at the bar having a bigger dick than him.
