Joey Lawrence was an average TV actor at best and had an even poorer performance when it came to financially planning his future. Lawrence was forced to file for bankruptcy when his “keeping up with the Jones” lifestyle finally caught up with him. He was the primary breadwinner while his wife was professionally unemployed. I’m not sure Joey understands how a one income household works. You actually have to make enough money for yourself and your spouse if you’re going to dedicate one individual as a permanent house person. He claims he averaged almost $7,000 a month. Which is more than enough for two people to share if you curb the urge to eat at Olive Garden everyday. I know it’s hard to resist a restaurant where you don’t have to microwave your own Stouffer’s lasagna but you have to make sacrifices when you’re not that big of a star.
The Dancing With the Stars alum’s debts include $132,000 in credit card debt, $88,000 in back taxes, $32,000 in unpaid loans, nearly $100,000 for owed automobiles and $54,000 in unpaid rent, according to the docs.
The documents reveal that the duo’s monthly expenses leave them $18,000 in debt each month. The expenses include $13,500 in monthly rent, $2,400 on food and housekeeping needs, $1,281 in water and sewer bills, $2,348 on one car lease, $498 on a second car lease and $1,000 on entertainment
I’m amazed that their automobile debt alone was almost $100,000 and the pair truly believed selling pants and purses through the thrift store and eBay would somehow help put a dent in a debt that high. They’re not even good at being poor. When you’re that over your head you have to hide assets in storage under another name. Openly scrambling to sell luxury goods that lost 80% of its value only opens the door to more public shame. Now it’ll be that much harder to cope with your newfound poverty status in peace because the neighbors know.
