Catt Sadler Quits E! For Lack of Big Boy Pay

I wouldn’t claim to know the names of all the E! channel anchors and hosts. It puts you somewhere beneath Jeopardy champion on the expressed intelligence chart. And only slightly above encephalitic twink. If you’re willing to Wiki, you’ll find Catt Sadler is a twelve year veteran of the celebrity gossip and Kardashian channel.

Sadler publicly quit the network upon learning that her mostly male colleague, Jason Kennedy, made twice her salary. Or more specifically, when she went to management and demanded to have her salary doubled in her new contract and they said, nice knowing you. This even after Sadler reminded everybody she’s a single mom as of six months ago. That used to mean something, at least in corporate blackmail:

“It’s almost insulting because you know you work really hard. I’m a single mom of two kids. I’ve given my all to this network. I’ve sacrificed time away from my family and I have dedicated my entire career to this network. And when you learn something like that, it makes you feel very small and underappreciated and undervalued. It’s heartbreaking.”

Is Jason Kennedy a single mom of two kids? He is not. It’s unclear if he’s even able to reproduce given his hermaphroditic composition. Sadler claims this has nothing to do with Kennedy, who she considers a brother, but that clearly E! is refusing to pay women their due. Especially now that she has to be a reading mannequin on air almost three hours a day. Add in hair and make-up, and that’s sixteen hours of work. 

E! News isn’t just any channel. It’s a channel run largely by women for women, or at least far more so than when a dude ran it and gave Chelsea Handler a job for blowing his rod. That wouldn’t fly in 2017. E! responded to Sadler’s accusation with a rote response to what will inevitably be a long, multi-year, gender discrimination lawsuit:

“E! compensates employees fairly and appropriately based on their roles, regardless of gender. We appreciate Catt Sadler’s many contributions at E! News and wish her all the best following her decision to leave the network.”

Sadler claims she was “born to do this job”. Meaning, she’s sort of pretty but not the least bit threatening, can call upon fake responsive laughter, and is willing to not consume any carbohydrates through the middle years of her life. She’s going to take a few weeks now to regroup from her exit. The future’s always bright for an incredibly skinny 40-something woman who can read teleprompters without obviously squinting. New bigger breasts and there’s no reason she can’t be doing weather in San Antonio by March.
