I wouldn’t mind watching a film with the title “What Exactly Went On In Woody Allen’s House.” A cinematic adventure about your almost stepdad who is old enough to be your granddad ultimately ending up being your lifetime lover after leaving your adopted mother so he could experiment with breaking your fourth wall personally off camera. Amazing how no one in the house managed to adopt any morals or ethics. But the closest we can come to peering in as the general public to what was up at Woody’s house is a new book by Eric Lax entitled Start to Finish: Woody Allen and the Art of Moviemaking. In this book Woody’s adopted son, Moses Farrow, is full of unfiltered hot-takes about the abuse and brainwashing he suffered from mom Mia Farrow.
In 1993, Farrow won custody of the couple’s three children: Dylan, Moses and Ronan, now 29. Allen was denied all visitation rights with Dylan. Moses gave an interview to People in which he denied his adopted sister’s allegations. ‘Of course Woody did not molest my sister… I don’t know if my sister really believes she was molested or is trying to please her mother,’ he said. He added: ‘My mother drummed it into me to hate my father for tearing apart the family and sexually molesting my sister.’ Moses, 39, is also quoted as saying: ‘Now that I no longer live in fear of her rejection, I am free to share how she cultivated and brainwashed me.’ He alleges that his mother Mia Farrow hit him on multiple occasions.
What’s adoption without a little manipulation from the people that probably hand picked you personally like some puppy at the pound. Angelina Jolie’s litter of children gathered together look like the front cover of an all-inclusive fifth grade social studies book. She’s still human. You don’t think she’s ever threatened to return any of the children like an impulsively purchased item on a shopping spree that she still has the receipt to. At least once? Most of us have seen Annie. The adoption life isn’t always smooth sailing and happy endings. Maybe Moses’ allegations are full of truth about his mother excessively striking him and telling him to hate his father Woody. But Woody is the real winner because when your almost wife runs off with the kids and wins full custody, just marry one of them. Because finding legal loopholes to get the last laugh at an ex always feels better than sex. Being petty is chicken soup for the soul.
