How you choose to discipline your children is always a sensitive subject matter. There’s this huge gray area of what’s acceptable and what’s illegal. Although the more illegal the method of discipline the less likely you’ll see a repeat offense from your beloved offspring. Making kids kneel on rice for extended periods of time will teach lessons. But it’s also not the best thing to tell authorities that prayer knees on uncooked pilaf is the preferred method of discipline in your household. And if you’ve ever felt like waterboarding your kids for bad behavior than you probably don’t have the patience to be a parent and should have pulled out. Tyrese Gibson is under investigation by DCFS for spanking his daughter after she stole from her piggy bank.
Back in September, Tyrese’s ex-wife Norma Mitchell Gibson filed a lawsuit claiming that, on August 19, the couple’s 10-year-old daughter was staying with the “Sweet Lady” singer when he allegedly began to rage and pushed his daughter to the ground, “pinned her face down, put his knees on her back, grabbed her hands with one arm and beat her with the other.”According to Norma, the incident began when Tyrese accused the young girl of “stealing her own piggy bank money that she received for her birthday.” Now the singer’s estranged spouse is attempting to be granted a permanent restraining order, which would prohibit the actor from physically disciplining their child. Norma is also seeking full physical and legal custody of the child.
Children should never be used as legal leverage pawns period. Unfortunately, that’s what this entire situation is starting to look like. I’ve never been a fan of men striking little girls but I’m also not a fan of home invasion sponsored by bad decisions and even worse parenting. Stealing always starts out small with pilfering pennies from your own piggy bank then before you know it you end up on First 48 with serious charges. Tyrese managed to forget what a phone was and wrote a novel on an Instagram caption instead. What’s more heartfelt than a couple of hashtags from daddy explaining why he had to hit you.
