The fact that gross comedian David Cross bangs his gross wife Amber Tamblyn on the reg is enough to make anyone lose their lunch, but at least, unlike his wife, Cross does his duty as an entertainer by bringing on the yucks. In the form of racial comments and sloppy relentless Twitter apologies. The best kind of yucks. Cross needs to team up with Paula Deen and Mel Gibson for a comedy tour. For those of you who don’t follow insufferable D-list celebrities, Dr. Bunsen Honeydew’s half-cousin Charlyne Yi came forward via Twitter earlier this month accusing Cross of being a racist douchbag:
I think about the first time I met David Cross 10 years ago and he made fun of my pants (that were tattered because I was poor). Dumbfounded, I stared at him speechless and he said to me, ‘What’s a matter? You don’t speak English?? Ching-chong-ching-chong.’
Then after he saw I was offended he asked me if I was going to fight with him karate in a southern accent.
Cross defended his reputation with:
I am NOT accusing Charlene [sic] of lying and I’m truly sorry if I hurt her, perhaps we are both misremembering *exactly* what happened that night.
“I can’t believe I have to write this but I am not a racist nor a bully and loathe them in real life,”
As the husband of someone who gets molested twelve times a day before breakfast and has made an online career out of speaking against victim shaming, you think Cross would have taken a different approach to addressing Yi’s allegations. Perhaps Tamblyn is just full of shit? Considering that her biggest contribution to the ching-chong kerfluffle was tweeting “He said he was sorry, publicly, several times. Please don’t @ me in conversations dragging my husband. Thanks.” she probably is. If she doesn’t defend Yi relentlessly and without question, like she does everyone else on the Internet, yeah, she definitely 100% is a bag of hot turds. You can’t pick and choose the victims of harassment that you wish to defend.
Okay back to Cross. Yesterday the racist came back with another apology that feels more like an admittance than the previous one:
Charlyne I’m sorry that I hurt you and that this whole thing played out as it did. I look forward to communicating whenever you see fit.
Yi basically replied with “It’s cool I got my piece of the Weinstein action so we’re good,” so it seems like the saga is almost over. I truly have never liked Cross in anything I’ve seen him in, but I must just not see the comedic nuance in slobs screaming and stomping around. And to leave things on a serious note, if you’ve been marginalized by the Cross/Tamblyn family, please tweet #MeToo so that hopefully the abuse will stop for good.
