It’s not uncommon for celebrities to be interviewed by phone. For shitty magazines. For editions of Vogue in major Western nations, when an expensive photo shoot is involved, it’s highly unusual. For Paris Jackson, it was a texting only interview with Vogue Australia. Their first one ever. The editor of the leading fashion magazine made up a cheeky excuse for why texting made sense, not to include the fact that journalism is dead:
[It’s] something we have never before agreed to at Vogue, but when seemed appropriate for someone of her [Paris’s] generation.
All of your models are of Paris’ generation. But nice try. In return, Paris Jackson made up a scheduling reason why she didn’t want to fly fifteen hours to Australia but assured everybody she’s definitely coming at some point:
‘My parentals got married there so it’s for sure on my bucket list to go.’
Parentals. Nice. About as committal a term of art as bucket list. Let’s be honest. You’re never going and you have no idea where you came from. Jackson’s only insistence was that family matters be taken off the table. Though discussions about how excited she is for upcoming film projects and her favorite tanks for the summer heat were wide open.
Jackson praised Vogue for being the first interview where her words weren’t “twisted”. Perhaps because they knew everything was on your Galaxy and they couldn’t take any liberties. Therefore, they merely inserted a number of your banal responses and reminded themselves that Vogue is Playboy for women. Nobody reads the articles. Plus it’s all in Australian.
