Did you know that gunshot wounds are the number one leading cause of the idolization of misogynistic homophobic gang affiliated rappers? Know your facts. Most rap music teaches important lessons to future generations, most notably, shoot before they shoot you. In addition to a glossary of methods to beat a bitch. The Notorious B.I.G was a broad target and a slow draw. Bad combo. Since his death in 1997 he’s blossomed into a visionary musician stolen from us before his time. His lyrics also help white girls scream the N-word at nightclubs. A true legacy.
Cut to Kylie and Kendall Jenner, two other celebrities who should be well-received post-mortem. The sisters are in hot water after slapping B.I.G.’s face on t-shirts for their Kendall & Kylie clothing line. They also threw in 2Pac for the hell of it. Biggie’s mother, Voletta Wallace, took to Instagram to express her outrage over the $125 t-shirts:
I am not sure who told @kyliejenner and @kendalljenner that they had the right to do this. The disrespect of these girls to not even reach out to me or anyone connected to the estate baffles me. I have no idea why they feel they can exploit the deaths of 2pac and my Son Christopher to sell a t-shirt. This is disrespectful , disgusting, and exploitation at its worst!!!
The Jenners’ namesake and images can be seen superimposed onto pictures of the two rappers. As if to say, we also understand the struggle of growing up in impoverished crime-ridden black neighborhoods. The t-shirts were taken off the website after Wallace’s Instagram post. Whether they were yanked as a direct response or simply sold out is still unknown. My guess is the latter. The perfect edgy compliment to some high-waisted cut-offs and a flower crown. Festival season isn’t over.
It’s yet to be seen if Voletta Wallace will take this feud with Kylie and Kendall any further. She could always just handle things like her son and shoot them.
UPDATE: Kendall Jenner has released an apology. The folks at Pepsi helped her:
These designs were not well thought out and we deeply apologize to anyone that has been upset and/or offended, especially to the families of the artists. We are huge fans of their music and it was not our intention to disrespect these cultural icons in anyway. The tee shirts have been pulled from retail and all images have been removed. We will use this as an opportunity to learn from these mistakes and again, we are very sorry.
Looks like somebody threatened to sue.
