Hana Gabey Odiele Comes Out As Intersex

January 24, 2017 | celebrity | matt-ralston | 0 Comments

Hana Gabey Odiele is a Belgian model who was born with undescended testes. This is when you have an empty nut sack. Usually a boy’s balls drop around nine months. In some cases they don’t, and minor surgery or hormone injections are required, usually at around one year, and certainly before you start showering in the locker room. Gabey had an X and Y chromosome, so she was genetically a male, yet also had something called androgen insensitivity syndrome which means you don’t produce male hormones and really like R&B. Her parents elected to have the testes removed, and even if you read the article five times over, you can’t tell exactly what’s going on down there. Gabey is 28 and just came out as intersex. According to Vogue:

“Nearly 2 percent of babies are born intersex—about the same as naturally born redheads. How many of them have lived their lives shrouded in shame and secrecy?”

Redheads? Almost all of them that’s why they’re all alcoholics. Being naturally androgynous, Gabey was immediately discovered walking around a mall in diapers and embarked on a successful modeling career. Remember that movie Mask? She’s now advocating for the rights of intersex people, who used to be called hermaphrodites or eunuchs and typically sing backup although there are exceptions such as Michael Jackson and Cher:

“Doctors think they have to ‘normalize’ the baby’, crazy surgeries that are irreversible and nonconsensual, done when you are much too young.”

That all seems to make sense. This isn’t a dude in a dress crusading for justice. Kudos to Gabey for raising awareness. If you have this condition please come out of the closet so that you may further emaciate yourself and then travel the world modeling twelve hundred dollar conical hats. How many beers?
