Barbara Walters firmly insists she launched The View as a meaningful talk show for mature, intelligent women to debate the issues of the day. There’s no evidence this ever happened. Walters is now trashing what has become of her beloved show based off the premise that The View was every bit as profound as Buckley’s Firing Line, but with vagina:
She feels they’ve ruined the franchise that she and Bill Geddie built. Instead of focusing on smart, educated women with strong talent, they cast uninformed child actors on the show.
Walters seems to be referring to the multitude of co-hosts cast in the past several years whose sole credentials are name recognition among grown women who have time to watch television during business hours. If you were a teen actresses on a family friendly show in the 90’s, there’s a good chance you’ve been strongly expressing your opinions on geopolitics on The View recently. Though so have old crones Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar who’ve been spewing poorly thought out quips since the dawn of the show.
Perhaps Walters is more nostalgic for even twenty years previous when people on television were expected to hold some reasoned and researched opinions on news topics before being broadcast. There were intelligence standards, even for TV news. Walters was on of these ladies. When off the clock she even took to fucking married black senators to keep herself informed, and relaxed. You think Behar’s had sex since Watergate? Whoopi has. You don’t want to see the Super 8’s.
There’s no reason women can’t have shitty television content to watch the same as men. I don’t recall many guys lamenting how WWE Raw used to be far more erudite. The View is not educational programming. It’s tired Trump jokes and dumb chicks fighting and feigning passion. You have to partially blame Barbara for being eighty-seven and alive. You live long enough and you will eventually see everything you built turn to shit.
