Moroccan TV Seems Particularly Practical (VIDEO)

Moroccan TV seems far more practical than its American counterpart. The TV show Shabiyat aired a segment on their daytime talk show providing makeup advice to women who’ve been victims of domestic abuse. So like Oprah, minus the sixty minute dive into domestic abuse followed by zero makeup tips. 

“Make sure to use loose powder to fix the makeup so if you have to work throughout the day, the bruises don’t show.”

Nobody likes having a crappy job, but why not some practical tips on how to make the day go by a little smoother? In Morocco, about two-thirds of women report being the victims of a male beat down at one time or another. Safely assume the actual number approximates one-hundred percent. One of the lesser reported features of the peaceful religion. Paragraph 1c(a), you can ground and pound the old lady for even thinking about not making you that hummus spread after work.

The segment itself was aired by the station in honor of International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. I bet HuffPo chose a different form of celebration. One Moroccan woman was so outraged she initiated a Change.org petition to stop violence against women in her home country. Take that, Allah.

Channel 2M issued a rote apology letter that included the obligatory comment about how they’ve honored women’s rights for the past several decades of airing poor signal wavy line TV’s to tiny set top boxes. For her part, the makeup artist in the video was far more practical about the blowback:

We are here to provide solutions to these women … These women have already been subjected to moral humiliation and do not need to also have others looking at them.
