By way of disclosure, I exchanged messages with the kid who made the original “Barron Trump seems autistic” video. He’s not merely a kid, he’s a kid with autism himself. He panicked when Rosie O’Donnell vaulted his little anti-bullying message into a big to-do. Especially when he came into threatening letters from high powered attorneys. Hence, the circle of machinations that ultimately and inevitably led to an over the top apology video set to somber piano music. I hope it’s not copyrighted. This kid might end up on Devil’s Island with a forty year stretch.
If I could’ve warned the kid prior to becoming completely freaked out, I’d have let him know that these same attorneys couldn’t get the video removed by YouTube. Also, there’s something called Free Speech. You’re allowed to suggest the new President’s kid has autism. That goes for whether you’re doing it for earnest intentions, or because you’re Rosie O’Donnell and you spend your life searching for anything other than frozen Charleston Chew bars to fill the bitter empty void. Uncouth. Still legal.
People fascinated with garnering fake apologies with scripted self-flagellations are pretty obsessive folks. It’s hard not to have a totalitarian hot flash when seeing those in power forcing little guys to make obviously staged mea culpas. Wishing them the best of luck running the country seemed to gild the Orwellian lily. This could’ve been handled better. Maybe a playdate between the two kids with autism.
