According to a former Eminem bodyguard now trying to get a movie deal, Suge Knight ordered a hit on Eminem at the 2001 Source Awards. Outside of completely unreliable ex-bodyguard first hand accounts, the best supporting evidence being that tons of rappers tried to kill other rappers at the Source Awards in the early 2000’s. The annual event was routinely canceled, interrupted, or shut down because of fights and gunshots. Nobody showed up without a baker’s dozen of bodyguards and even the body guards had cool nicknames.
Bodyguard ‘Big Naz’ claims Suge Knight wanted Eminem dead because Eminem was a monster success story for Dr. Dre’s Aftermath records which Dre formed after ditching Knight’s Death Row. Jealousy seems a little flimsy for motive, but Suge Knight killed other people for less, including the dude he plowed over in his truck last year for which he now is awaiting trial. After a failed attempt to get Eminem at The Source Awards, Suge moved his army of gang members to Honolulu to intercept Eminem at his Hawaii tour stop:
Suge Knight had sent 50 guys to try to break up the show. When we got there, vacation mode was over, we were lockin’-n-loading, putting on bullet proof vests with their wives and girlfriends sitting next to them. We had to have Interscope pick up the tab to put Honolulu police with each bodyguard, because of how deep Suge was over there.
That’s like middle school, with lots of guns. Before Twitter shade, there were deadly beefs and rap was good. Ol’ Dirty Bastard wore a bulletproof vest to his trial on charges of wearing a bulletproof vest. You can not picture Drake holding an Uzi. Don’t let the melancholy sink too deep. A culled herd is a stronger herd.
