Jessica Valenti Drops Out

Feminist author and Rape Culture activist Jessica Valenti announced on Twitter that she’s leaving Twitter claiming someone threatened to rape and murder her five year old daughter. The legitimacy of the threat is unclear as Valenti’s screenshot function was broken on all of her various devices and she was unable to produce any evidence. Valenti claims to be the victim of regular harassment and threats online which the social media authorities and police don’t take seriously. That may or may not be related to the small number of feminist authors and their children murdered by Twitter trolls each year. It hovers around zero:

I should not have to fear for my kid’s safety because I write about feminism.

You know who else gets vicious threats online? Obama, Trump, Taylor Swift, the guy from Happy Days, Playboy models, comedians, guys who like the 2nd Amendment, guys who espouse gun control, Perez Hilton, Paris Hilton, the daughter of the Croc Hunter, porn stars, dead Rosa Parks, Bradley Cooper, County Clerks who refuse to sign off on gay weddings and County Clerks who do. Nobody’s coming after your daughter.

The more provocative shit you Tweet from Soul Cycle to retards in a demo that lives for anonymous acts of orgasmic trolling, the more times you’ll receive over the top sick and nasty retorts. Even shit about your kids. Which has happened to you once in your five years online. Or none times since you couldn’t manage to share an example. 

You want to be treated equally to men? Congratulations, you just got a little taste of being an outspoken Curt Schilling and receiving blow job jokes about your daughter. Caving is no way to sell your Manhattan literati loft cult. I smell a new book.
