Star Trek Beyond is a snooze fest with endless MacGyver discussions about how to jimmy up a communicator or an impulse engine. If you’re keeping cinematic reboot LGBT score, Sulu’s got a husband in this one. Filmmakers thought it would be progressively neat if Sulu were suddenly gay in honor of George Takei who is gay and portrayed Sulu in the original Star Trek television series. Takei thanked everybody by announcing he thought it was a fucking stupid idea since characters don’t suddenly become gay just because people in Hollywood wish it at slipper parties. Social engineering isn’t the most complex of the engineering sciences, but still quite a pickle.
Now it turns out that Star Trek Beyond filmed a kissing scene between Sulu and his husband but cut it out before the release. It’s pretty clear somebody missed the Forced Gay Depiction meetings during pre-production. Sulu has a husband — check. Sulu hugs his husband — check. Sulu tongue fucks his life partner — whoa, homo phasers to stun, not kill, motherfuckers. This shit cost us some decent money. The movie doesn’t have to be good, but let’s get our gay straight. You can borrow that. This movie sucked.
