Photos of Slender Women No Longer Allowed on London Public Transit

June 14, 2016 | WTF | Lex Jurgen | 0 Comments

The new London Mayor has declared that there will no longer be images of fit or slender women on advertisements on public transits because those impossibly toned bodies make many women and girls feel shitty. Some are suggesting that London’s first Muslim Mayor, Sadiq Khan, is stepping toward a Sharia type banning of uncovered women. But it’s far more likely he’s pandering to the modern politically correct culture where people have the inalienable right to be fat without repercussion of any kind.

This Protein World advertisement received numerous complaint from female Tube riders who didn’t appreciate seeing an airbrushed skinny chick on their daily commute. The group that reviews such complaints said they saw nothing obviously discriminatory or profane about the ad. So the new Mayor replaced them with a new “steering committee” of heavyset watercolorists and pre-school teachers who immediately deemed the ad body shaming and had it removed. The Mayor announced a public transit system wide ban on anything similar in the future.

As the father of two teenage girls, I am extremely concerned about this kind of advertising which can demean people, particularly women, and make them ashamed of their bodies. It is high time it came to an end.

Open ended government prohibitions on speech based on completely subjective intuited feelings of the collective seems like a good idea. What else would you say might demean your two teenage daughters or make them ashamed of their bodies? It’s high time we burned it all in the public square. It’s always amusing when people utilize government censorship in the name of liberation. Where will you be when they come for you? Yes, I know, adding extra mayonnaise to your chips. Dumb fucks.
