Lena Dunham has accused a Spanish magazine of heavily Photoshopping the picture of her on their cover. Dunham wrote on Instagram,
“…this is NOT what my body has ever looked like or will ever look like- the magazine has done more than the average photoshop. So if you’re into what I do, why not be honest with your readers? Much love, Lena.”
It turns out the magazine didn’t touch up the picture. It’s just from a three-year-old Entertainment Weekly story before Dunham added raw doughnut dough to her diet. You can’t blame Dunham for trying. The wave of female celebrities now calling out airbrushing of their photos by media outlets that have only been doing so for thirty years has reached a fever pitch. It’s a win-win for the feminist bandwagoner. Earn your body shaming support points then take three weeks to workout like a fiend and spend eleven hours posing yourself in the perfectly lit “untouched and makeup” selfie where you still look radiant. There’s caramel coming out of your navel, Ms. Dunham. Should we leave that in?
