Madonna posted an old picture of her son, Rocco, on her Instagram. In the photograph, Rocco is shirtless and smiling with a wreath of flowers around his neck. The caption reads,
“I miss this boy so full of life so full of love! I hope we see that Leo Sun soon. The light is blinding!”
Either this form of parenting is familiar to you, or you didn’t grow up with a narcissistic mother who had undiagnosed Borderline Personality Disorder. These are the same posts mothers around the country are putting up on their Facebook walls in desperate passive-aggressive cries for help. The difference is, they’re not famous. Rocco has to read about his mom in the news. She gets to feed her delusions with the deluge of superficial support from social media followers who have never smelt her crazy.
Madonna is currently in a custody battle with ex-husband Guy Ritchie. Rocco and Ritchie are holed up together in England, rocking back and forth, asking God to make it stop. Rocco might have blamed his dad for choosing Madonna in the first place, but he sees the shell of an artist that his father has become as a result of the transaction. They’ve decided to nurse their wounds together on another continent. Shine on, Rocco. You already know where the heroin is.
