Old footage of presidential candidate Bernie Sanders shows Sanders being arrested at a Civil Rights protest in 1963. Just the visual image his candidacy needed to chip away at Hillary Clinton’s 99.9% lead among African-American voters who continue having a hard time figuring out which white person is the devil. For all of Sanders’ speechifying about caring for minorities, it’s all rhetorical bullshit until the protest arrest photos go viral. Ben Carson tried to stab someone in the belt, Donald Trump purchases hot wives in the Sudetenland, and now Sanders can boast about abuse at the hands of The Man. Sometimes, you can’t just say you have a black friend; you have to produce him for the court to see. Maybe you didn’t need to wear the Bar Mitzvah watch.
