Back in February, rapper Lil Wayne, AKA Dwayne Michael Carter Jr., made an appearance on Future‘s song, “Karate Chop” – heard here with excellent Twerking visual – and he pissed a lot of people off when he included this line: “Pop a lot of pain pills, ’bout to put rims on my skateboard wheels … beat that pussy up like Emmett Till.”
Till was a black teenager who was beaten and shot to death in Mississippi in 1955, after he was accused of flirting with a white girl. Naturally, Till’s family didn’t take to kindly to his horrible death being compared to a violent sex act, so they complained and Weezy sent them a letter swearing that he will never again perform the verse in live performances. But he never actually said, “I’m sorry”, and the Till family is still pissed.
Perhaps as a punishment, they could make Lil Wayne live in Mississippi. Or even worse, listen to his own music.
