A few weeks ago it was reported that if Lindsay Lohan rejected the plea deal in her felony theft case and went to trial, she would then be in front of the toughest judge she’s ever faced, one who has “no mercy” for repeat offenders and who “would very, very likely sentence Lindsay to jail, ON THE SPOT.” As in, immediately. Up to 6 months. And that’s just for violating her probation, it’s not even for stealing the necklace. As opposed to taking the deal and going to jail for 18 days.
Always one to see the big picture, she of course rejected the plea and will go to trial.
Sources connected to Lindsay tell TMZ … Lindsay met with her lawyer, Shawn Holley Tuesday afternoon. Holley laid out the options but left the decision to Lindsay, who said she’s firm about her innocence and wants to push it to the wall at trial.
Lindsay’s case will be assigned to Judge Stephanie Sautner — who’s considered tough but fair — and the preliminary hearing is set for April 22.
We have been saying Lindsay was crazy not to accept the plea deal, not because she’d be found guilty of grand theft … but the way the system is set up, Lindsay could be thrown in jail for the probation violation before her grand theft trial.
Lindsay of course thinks she’s above the law, and with good reason because she always has been, so she’ll consider it a real slap in the face if the judge really does send her to jail even before her trial. With any luck, the next thing she’ll consider a slap in the face is the slap in the face that her cellmate gives her.
