The New York Daily News has more bad news for Britney Spears today, namely that LA prosecutors will not drop the charges following her citation for driving without a valid California drivers license. The News says:
Prosecutors refused Thursday to drop charges against Spears – despite pleas from her lawyers that she's a changed woman."She seems to be getting her life together. She has nothing on her record other than the infraction-type tickets we all get," said Spears lawyer Charlie Unger.Los Angeles city attorney Michael Amerian said too bad, noting that a hit-and-run count had already been dropped in an incident in which Spears' Mercedes hit a parked car."It's the fairest way to treat her," Amerian said of the decision to proceed to trial in three months. "[We're] not affected by her celebrity status."
The only question now is, was this the most compelling story of the past hundred years or of all time. I'm leaning toward "all time". It really had everything.
