Nicole Richie is reportedly scared to death that she will have to go to prison as a result of her December arrest for driving the wrong way down the Burbank freeway while high on vicodin and marijuana. The Chupacabra pled no contest four years ago to driving under the influence, which means that if she is found guilty this time, the judge must impose a jail sentence. The law requires a mandatory sentence of five consecutive days in county jail as well as a one year license suspension for anyone twice-convicted of DUI. In addition, Richie would be ordered to attend an alcohol education program for a year-and-a-half, even if the second conviction is not alcohol-related. MSNBC says:
(Richie) has confided to her best-pal-again Paris Hilton that she is terrified that the Dec. 11 DUI charges against her will land her in jail … “She was really freaking out,” an “insider” told the mag. “Paris kept telling Nicole not to worry, that everything was going to be fine.”
Man, it's good legal news all around for us celebrities. Nicole is going to be fine, and I'm not going to jail for picking up a prostitute. Turns out it's only illegal if you have sex with her. But if you just stand at the foot of the bed, puling up your pants, crying and apologizing – well that's legal baby. High five!
