Rumors have been around for months now that Beyonce Knowles is not happy to be outshined in the movie "Dreamgilrs" by newcomer Jennifer Hudson. The musical was supposed to be a showcase for Beyonce, and yet, not only is she getting pushed out of the limelight by a girl who was on American Idol, but by a girl who didn't even win American Idol. USA Today reviews the film today, and it's pretty much more of the same:
The weakest link is the stunning Knowles. The camera clearly loves her, and her singing is not in contention, but as an actress, she has a vapid quality. Despite the array of dazzling fashion ensembles, and the effort to channel Diana Ross, her performance remains one-note, particularly in contrast to Hudson's nuanced portrayal. The film is worth seeing simply for the on-screen splendor of Hudson, a losing contestant on TV's American Idol. She's a natural — musically and theatrically — and delivers a tour-de-force performance.
Beyonce has been reading this stuff for weeks now and she's been throwing little hissy fits ever since, like refusing to pose with Hudson in Vanity Fair. In Beyonces defense, she has 900 gold record and yet is losing ground to someone who won more pie eating contests than talent shows.
