‘Jackass’ and ‘Wildboyz’ star Steve-O was the guest host on the radio show ‘Loveline’ Tuesday night and opened the show by announcing that he has been diagnosed with cardiomyopathy, which is the deterioration of the function of the heart muscle, meaning the heart becomes less efficient at pumping blood. People with cardiomyopathy are often at risk of arrhythmia and sudden cardiac death, and treatments can even include a heart transplant or implanting a type of defibrillator. Steve-O said:
“In no uncertain terms, the doctor looked at me with a really creepy look on his face and he said, ‘you have the heart of a 90 year old man’. He said, ‘if it doesn’t correct itself, you will not live to the age of 40.’ ”
Well, it’s not like being 90 is some kind of death sentence. Apparently you can even win ‘American Idol’.
