Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Garner and Cicely Tyson are among a delegation of Hollywood stars who toured devastated parts of New Orleans yesterday to meet with families and children trying to adjust to life after Hurricane Katrina. Witherspoon, who was born just an hour away in Baton Rouge, said:
“I don’t think you get a real clear perspective unless you come down and see it. The children need attention right now.”
I don’t wanna get too heavy here, but as someone who is from New Orleans, I promise that everyone who hasn’t been there has no idea how bad it was and is. By August, we hope to be back to caveman times. By Christmas, we have our eye on a big pointy conch shell that we can stand on a cliff and blow into to communicate. If mayor Ray Nagin and governor Katherine Blanco had any decency, they would kill themselves, then rise up from the grave and kill themselves again.
