‘X Men: The Last Stand’ grossed 107 million dollars in its first weekend in North America, making it the fourth biggest debut of all time. Only ‘Spider Man’ (114.8 million) ‘Star Wars Episode III: The Revenge of the Sith’ (108.4 million) and ‘Shrek 2’ (108 million) made more in the first three days. It was also the largest opening by far for the three ‘X Men’ movies. The first ‘X Men’ made 54 million in its debut, ‘X Men 2’ made 86 million. A source said:
“People had such a huge awareness of the movie that it just translated into these huge numbers.”
It’s so disappointing to see a move directed by Brett Ratner do this well. He’s such a hack. Last week he said he hoped the movie would do between 50 and 100 million. A good way to gauge how dumb someone might be is when they give estimates, and the second number is double the first. “Hey, Brett, how tall are you?” “Uhh, like 5 feet, 10 feet, somewhere in there.” “Oh, thanks Brett.”
