Last week, Paula Abdul filed a police report stating that she was assaulted at the bar ‘Xenii’ in LA by CAA agent Jim Lefkowitz, an assault that left her with a concussion and spinal injuries. But after a very brief preliminary investigation, it appears the case will not be pursued. In fact, Lefkowitz has never even been contacted by police. Police found witnesses who stated that Abdul was so drunk she couldn’t even stand, and was eventually asked to leave by club security because of her condition. The theory is Abdul completely fabricated the story to deflect from her behavior and as best anyone can tell, Lefkowitz was chosen as a fall guy at random. His attorney denies any wrong doing:
“The press accounts of the so-called altercation between Jim Lefkowitz and Paula Abdul at Xenii last Sunday morning are completely outrageous and utterly false. Mr. Lefkowitz did not have an argument with Ms. Abdul nor did he have any physical contact with her whatsoever . . . he was merely an innocent bystander at an unfortunate incident.”
This is like the 80th “Paula Abdul is drunk and inappropriate” story in the last month, and it comes on the heels of reports that Jessica Simpson and Britney Spears were both considered and maybe even contacted to replace Paula this year, immediately, to judge with Randy Jackson and Simon Cowell on ‘American Idol’. Abdul has signed an extension since then, but God knows that show has enough money to buy her out, and it’s not like she brings any special talent to the table. Unless rambling incoherently and looking like something you normally only see captured in a net is now some money making bonaza.
