Official became officialer today when Daniel Craig was publicly announced as the next James Bond. And while many have wondered how the little known Craig landed the most well known movie role in the world, a private email from Eon Productions (the home of Bond) gave some clues. The in-house memo was reportedly leaked detailing the reasons for rejecting better known actors like Hugh Jackman, Ewan McGregor and Colin Ferrel.
The secret email described Jackman as “too fey”, McGregor “too short” and Farrell “too sleazy”. It also described Hulk star Eric Bana as “not handsome enough”.
Personally I always thought Jackman would be the best choice. He was tough enough for Wolverine and had the chops to win a Tony. You’re not gonna do better than that. Call me a master detective if you want, but maybe the whispers about his personal life were too much to gamble. Some people may react weird to a James Bond with stretch marks on the side of his mouth.
