The New York Post reveals today that when Madonna denied having adopted a orphaned baby last week in the African country of Malawi, it was simply a plan to drag the story out so she could get more attention and publicity for herself. The first reports said Madonna adopted a baby boy who lost his mother one month after he was born, but Madonnas publicist quickly denied those claims. The orphans father (wait, what?) told the AP that his son was, in fact, adopted by Madonna. He says:
"I am very, very happy because, as you can see, there is poverty in this village, and I know he will be very well looked after in America."
Well, London, but the child's grandmother was also told that Madonna is the new mom:
"The director of the orphanage came here yesterday and told us that David has been adopted by a famous American singer. I am very glad for him because having grown up as an orphan myself, I know how tough life can be."
The wise, advice-giving lion who lives in the village had other concerns:
"Why is cinnamon candy always hot. Cinnamon's not hot. What's the deal there."
